The Toowoomba Japanese Gardens, Ju Raku En, cover three hectares of land adjacent to the University of Southern Queensland. The University developed and maintained the gardens, with sections jointly owned by the Toowoomba Regional Council.
The gardens attract over 100,000 tourist visitors annually, with numbers peaking during Spring when the gardens come to life with blossoming trees. The gardens feature a lake with numerous traditional-styled Japanese bridges in its centre. The lake is full of ducks, water birds and tortoises. Please note that feeding the wildlife is not encouraged. Dogs are only permitted within the garden when on a leash.
